Rick Jenkins
SBA's Disaster Field Office Communications Manager

Rick Jenkins joined the U.S. Small Business Administration in 1989, and has worked on every major disaster to strike the Western United States during the past 17 years as a public information officer and a congressional relations officer.

Jenkins has extensive involvement in responding to earthquakes, floods, typhoons and wildfires that have destroyed hundreds of thousands of homes and businesses. Most recently, he spent five months in Louisiana responding to Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, which devastated the Gulf Coast.

In 2005, Jenkins was named the Communications Supervisor for the newly established Field Operations Center – West. That office now serves the 23 states west of the Mississippi, and U.S. Pacific Trust Territories by providing public communications, congressional relations and customer service representatives in disaster areas, Disaster Recovery Centers, SBA Disaster Outreach Centers, and other on-site locations.
