Pat Gartland began his professional career with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce as marketing manager. He went on to serve as the executive director of two national coalition groups and later ran his own business as a campaign consultant in the Southeast. He subsequently rejoined the U.S. Chamber as southeastern regional director for congressional and public affairs and was responsible for coordinating national, state, and local affairs. Pat has served on many committees and grassroots organizations and has been heavily involved in advising business executives and state and local business groups on public policy matters and grassroots activism

Pat grew up in South Carolina. He attended the University of Alabama on an athletic scholarship and earned his bachelor of science in industrial management. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Army commanding a company in the 101st Airborne Division. He reached the rank of major before during 11 years of service.

Pat resides in Atlanta, Ga., is married to Kay Hamilton Gartland, and has three adult children.
