Abstract:

This publication is a report on the 449 most micro-business- friendly lenders based on June 1996 - June 1997 data from the nation's commercial banks. The study compares banks within states based on their 'micro-business-friendly' lending activity using the call report data submitted by financial institutions to their appropriate banking regulators.

Purpose:

The purpose of this publication is to provide small businesses with a tool for locating micro-business-friendly banks and to stimulate competition among banks for small business customers.

AgencyProgram:

The Office of Advocacy is required by Public Law 94-305 to study the ability of financial markets and institutions to meet small business credit needs.
