Francisco A. Marrero Mr. Marrero directs the activities of 21 permanent SBA employees and manages the implementation of SBA’s program and services for the South Florida District which serves more than 1 million small businesses in the 24 counties south of Orlando, Florida. Additionally, Mr. Marrero has oversight responsibilities for 15 chapters of SCORE – Counselors to America’s Small Business, the Florida Women’s Business Center and four Small Business Development Centers (SBDC) administered by Florida Atlantic University, University of South Florida, Florida Gulf Coast University and Brevard Community College, Indian River Community College and the University of Central Florida. The South Florida SBDC network operates 19 service locations throughout the District. Under Mr. Marrero’s leadership during Fiscal Year (FY) 2006, the South Florida District Office approved a record 4,466 small business loans, valued at $821.7 million dollars. Prior to his appointment to the South Florida District Office, Mr. Marrero served as district director in the New Jersey District Office, and deputy district director in the New York City District Office. He has held key management positions in the SBA's headquarters in Washington D.C., the New York Regional Office, and the Puerto Rico/Virgin Islands District Office. In 2002 and 2004 Mr. Marrero was recognized by President George W. Bush with prestigious Presidential Rank Awards (Meritorious Service Award in 2002; Distinguished Service Award in 2004) for his outstanding achievements as a federal manager. Mr. Marrero holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration from Inter American University in Hato Rey, Puerto Rico. He is also a graduate of the Federal Executive Institute in Charlottesville, Va., and the Center for Creative Leadership in Greensboro, N.C. Mr. Marrero is married and has four children. | ||
